------------------Hello and welcome... -----------------
Hi, thanks for checking out this shared house info. We believe living in a shared house can be a fantastic experience and it's not just for saving money. It can be about learning from others, sharing a little yard work, lowering our carbon footprint, and other fun stuff like that. Communication workshop? Yes...
The mental health and long life benefits of shared housing and community are shown in many studies (check out the Blue Zone studies!), but you know that moment when you need to borrow a couple eggs on a Saturday morning for that epic brunch?... now that's where the magic happens right?
Anyway, our house is pretty relaxed and we see each other from time to time. Kitchen chats help keep us connected but we're all busy and active out in the community so it's really maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10 now days on the scale of social community houses, and probably an 8 of 10 on clean. We dream of monthly dinners or hangouts in the future.
Our focus/theme is building a mindfulness based home where people here are really conscious of each other and not being self-focused.
Everyone living here is practicing calm, quiet, progressive, inclusive lifestyle and working to be socially conscious, equity minded, anti-racist, growth mindset, beautifully imperfect and learning... etc.
Ok...still interested? here we go with the details...

--------------------- People Info ---------------------
Overall, we're looking for humans who are...
- calm, mindful, positive, relaxed, kind, socially conscious, progressive, low-key, empathetic
- ideally enjoy a very calm quiet house, more of a respite than a full on community style house.
our theme now days is mindfulness and rest, with occasional kitchen chats
- respectful, good community ethics, equity minded, welcoming, LGBTQ friendly, Black Lives Matter conscious and on your journey of learning while acknowledging the gifts of imperfection.
- good open communication is awesome, no PNW passive please (IRL preferred for most things)
- if you enjoy an occasional deep dialogue about life, fantastic!
- Artists, Nonprofit workers or folks working in mental health/wellness/arts/etc. are encouraged to apply (discount may be possible)
Having a good sense of humor and being open with communication really helps with shared houses. We like to have good camaraderie and say hello here and there, maybe support each other after a tough day, have tea once in a while, but realistically on average the house tends to be a place to cook dinner, rest and recharge and isn't super social relatively speaking.
We aren't "age-ist" at all but do find that folks who've done at least 7+ years of their own personal work albeit through counseling, communication training, somatic therapies, etc. and are self aware, have decent communication skills, life long learners, growth mindset, not into grind culture, and are trying to make the world a better place... often fit really well here.
Personally, we are working as nonprofit arts/creative director, full time artist/painter, live events sound tech, etc. We also share the backyard (and utils) with another woman (late 40's) who lives downstairs in the separate apartment (separate entrance) and works in environmental justice. She's not around much and is lovely to talk with in the back yard on occasion.
Long term there are 4 people total in the main 4 bed/2bath house. Occasional guest in upstairs guest space.
