Teacher Association (PTA) have been organizing several activities this summer Three of the officers at tended the summer institute of the Alabama Congress ofParents and Teachers at the University of Alabama on June 7 Pam Holder president Carolyn Robert son first vice president and Doris Jett program chair man attended the institute in Tuscaloosa and participated in three group sessions designed to assist the local parent teacher groups The group sessions were entitled Their Duties and Respon Organizational Standing and Special Com and Role of the Parent Working with the Schools" Since the institute these of ficers and Lynn Green second vice president Carol Baggett secretary Glenda Woosley treasurer the com mittee chairmen and other PTA members have met to discuss plans for the summer and for the next school year The group will be parking cars for irst Monday weekends through October to earn money for special projects and they have made progress in activating a health room at the school for the next year having made arrangements for space and assistance from the Red Cross McCloskey Bieber to wed Mr and Mrs John Mc Qoskey of Scottsboro for merly of Baltimore Md an nounce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Diane Elizabeth McCloskey to Mr James Bieber son of Mr and Mrs Charles Bieber Jr of Miami Ha The bride elect is the gran ddaughter of Mr and Mrs William Simon McCloskey of Baltimore Md and Mr and Mrs Peter Waskiewicz of Wilkes Barre Pa Miss McCloskey is a graduate of Kenwood Senior High School Baltimore Md and attended Northeast State Junior College and Hollywood Technical School both in Alabama and Essex Com munity College and the Johns Hopkins University both in Baltimore Md She is presen tly employed by the Jackson County Board of Education Materials Center at Hollywood The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr and Mrs Charles Bieber Sr and Mr and Mrs John Long all of Miami la Mr Bieber is employed by Commonwealth Electric via the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (AL CIO CLC) in Orlando la and is presen tly attending the Central lorida Electrical Joint Ap prenticeship and Training Committee School in Orlan do la Cooper performed the double ring ceremony The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Bridges of Scottsboro Paren ts of the groom are Mr and Mrs Belan Roden of Hunt sville Nuptial music was presen ted by Mr Grady Bennett organist Mrs Maree Sharp and Rev Don Cooper were soloists Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father the bride wore a gown of white organza and silk Venice lace Layers of organ za formed a capelet effect and Venice lace traced the portrait neckline Lace motif overlaid the fitted bodice The A line silhouette fell to a triple flounced hemline top ped with more lace and flowing to a semi cathedral train Her fingertip illusion veil was bordered in a matching lace and held by a lace camelot She carried a satin covered Bible with a white orchid surrounded by garlan ds of ivy and clusters of valley lillies tied with streamers of narrow satin Bennett and Miss Dianne Wood all of Scottsboro Mrs Keith Hannay of Jackson ville la Miss Patricia Stoves of Selma and Miss Shirley Warren of Woodville Miss Belinda Roden of Hunt sville sister of the groom was junior bridesmaid Karen Goss was flower girl The attendants wore for mal gowns of blue silk organ za with necklines and hemlines matching those of the gown The back of the gown featured a bustle which was formed from the hemline to the waist They carried lace trimmed silk fans with streamers of lace topped with a crescent bouquet of silk miniature blue carnations white roses and Boston fems Mr Roden served his son as best man Groomsmen were Bobby Bridges of Bir mingham brother of the bride Dana Bennett of Scott sboro Dale Edwards of Bir mingham Jeff Roden and Mike Roden of Huntsville brothers of the groom Don Story of Huntsville and Jim Walker of Nashville Tenn Chad Walker was ring bearer
